A Darlington care home resident with an undeniable "zest for life" marked her 100th birthday earlier this week (December 13).

Stanley-born Cora Reeves, who resides at Wilton House Care Home in Darlington celebrated her milestone 100th birthday in style this week with friends and family.

Cora's life journey spans from her days as a hat-maker to her role as an air raid warden in the Second World War, as those who know her say her stories are a wonder to hear.

The centurion has two children, named Alistair and Lesley who now live in Germany and Australia, and enjoyed her marriage to husband Derrick.

Emma Hardy, the Home Manager at Wilton House, said: "Cora's centenary is a testament to her incredible zest for life and the close-knit community we foster here at Wilton House.
