A husband and wife delivery team from County Durham have been getting in the Christmas spirit by cheering up their community by dressing up in festive outfits.

Bishop Auckland-based Evri courier, Michelle, has been out and about spreading an Elfie amount of festive cheer this Christmas, delivering parcels dressed as one of Santa’s helpers.

For the last three years in the run-up to Christmas, Michelle has dressed up as an Elf and headed out to deliver parcels to in the local area.

When asked why she does this, she said: “Going out and delivering dressed like this makes people smile.

"It all started three years ago, my daughter who was eight at the time had an Elf arrive, when it came there was a costume in the box and a note asking if her mum could help Santa as there was a shortage of elves.

"She was so excited, telling all her friends at school I’d been asked to help Santa. I just had to put the suit on.”

Michelle’s husband Jason, who’s also a courier, couldn’t resist getting involved and wanted to dress up as well to spread some Christmas joy.

Who better to dress up as than the Father Christmas himself?

Jason added: “The kids love it when they open the door and see Santa, or his Elf standing there. It’s what Christmas is all about. It doesn’t take much effort for us to do this, but it can make someone’s day.
