The Commonwealth War Graves Foundation (CWGF) is inviting the public to visit a Christmas remembrance event in North Yorkshire.
The Candlelit Christmas Remembrance will be held at Stonefall Cemetery, Harrogate, on Sunday, December 17, at 3.30pm.
At the event, individuals will be given battery-operated tealights to place on the graves of the fallen, after which a short remembrance service will take place.
Benji Walker, the initiator of the ceremony, said: "I feel it’s as important today as it was at the time to recognise the sacrifice of those who gave everything to serve this country.
"The Candlelit Christmas Remembrance is a chance for the local community to remember the sacrifice of the hundreds of CWGC casualties buried at Stonefall, many of them thousands of miles from home."
Benji, whose son is serving in the Yorkshire Regiment, plans to use the event to raise funds for the CWGF and Help for Heroes.
Attendees can sponsor a candle, with profits going to these charities.
Home to over 1,000 Commonwealth war graves - including William Stuart McMullen, the pilot who sacrficed himself to save lives in Darlington - Stonefall Cemetery is one of the largest CWGF sites in Northern England.
Most graves are those of airmen who lost their lives during The Second World War, including more than 600 casualties from the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Elizabeth Smith, CWGC public engagement coordinator, said: "This wonderful candlelit event has become an annual fixture and it allows people to connect with their history whilst remembering those who fought and died in both world wars."
Attendees are advised to dress warmly, wear sturdy shoes and bring torches.
