A "much loved" member of staff unexpectedly lost his life after falling ill at an industrial site at Port Clarence, Stockton yesterday (December 11).
Emergency services convened at an industrial landfill site at Port Clarence off Huntsman Drive just before 11am on Monday following reports of a medical incident.
The man, who unexpectedly fell ill, then sadly lost his life despite the best efforts of emergency services.
Following the incident, Augean released a statement paying tribute to the man.
A spokesperson said: "Augean can confirm that sadly a much-valued member of staff was suddenly taken ill and died while onsite yesterday morning.
"We would like to thank our staff members who gave immediate assistance as well as the emergency services who attended.
"Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of the man who has died and we would ask that their privacy be respected at this time."
The North East Ambulance Service also released a statement, confirming their crew received support from the Great North Air Ambulance at the scene.
"We were called to an industrial site in Port Clarence at 10.40am this morning (Monday, December 11).
"We dispatched a clinical team leader, a double crewed ambulance and requested support from Great North Air Ambulance."
