Two people have been hospitalised after three cars crashed near to a hotel in Newton Aycliffe today (Thursday, December 7).
Emergency services, including the North East Ambulance Service and the fire and rescue service, responded to the scene on the A6072, as it passed through Heiginghton Village.
The road, near to Redworth Hall Hotel, was closed as patients were assessed and treated at the scene, and vehicles were recovered.

A spokesman for the North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 4.47 pm today to attend a road traffic collision on the A6072 involving three vehicles. We dispatched two paramedic crews, a doctor, a rapid response paramedic, our HART crew and a clinical team leader.
"We were supported by the fire and rescue service at the scene and took two patients to hospital - one with wrist, head and leg injuries and the other with head and chest injuries."
