We name 16 people who were fined in court after failing to comply with community protection notices requiring them to remove waste from their gardens and yards.
Their cases were heard at Peterlee Magistrates' Court throughout November, and were brought under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
Magistrates were told they failed to follow the notices issued by Durham County Council.
Here are the cases heard:

Joseph Lee Callison of Hydenside, The Grove, Consett, failed to comply with a community protection notice on or before April 1 in respect of accumulations of waste in the rear garden of the above address. The case was found proved and a fine of £220 was imposed along with a surcharge of £88 and costs of £531 - a total of £839.

Beverley Anne Gillispie of Bessemer Street, Ferryhill, failed to comply with a community protection notice on or before May 1 in respect of accumulations of waste in the yard of the above address. The case was found proved and a fine of £220 was imposed along with a surcharge of 88 and costs of £531.00 - a total of £839.

Stephen Alexander of Gill Crescent South, Fence Houses, failed to comply with a community protection notice on or before February 17 in respect of waste in the yard of the above address. The case was found proven in his absence. He was fined £440 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £176 and costs of £374 - a total of £990.

Andrew Stephen Clark of Hall Terrace, Willington, Crook, failed to comply with a community protection notice on or before March 27 in respect of accumulations of waste in the yard of the above address. The case was found proved. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £88 and costs of £506 - a total of £814.

Gordon Booley of Roberts Road, Aldershot, failed to comply with a community protection notice on or before April 27, in respect of accumulations of waste in the yard of a property in Moore Street, South Moor, Stanley. Magistrates found the case proved and imposed a fine £220 and a surcharge of £88 and costs of £732 - a total of £1,040.

Sarah Louise Monfredi of Lewmar Construction Ltd, Watch upon Dearne, Rotherham, failed to comply with a community protection notice on or before March 18 in respect of waste in the yard of a property in Front Street, Stanley. The case was proved in absence. Magistrates imposed a fine of £55 and a surcharge of £22 and costs of £80 - totalling £157.

Saphire Charlesworth, of East Street, Grange Villa has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £839 in fines and costs to pay.

Chelsea Cerise Hanlon, of Joseph Street, Stanley has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste and dog faeces in their garden. They now have a total of £764 in fines and costs to pay.

Alan John Talbot, of Lenin Terrace, Stanley has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £698 in fines and costs to pay.

Robert John Burnett, of School Terrace, South Moor has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £839 in fines and costs to pay.

Leoni Jade Bell, of Balmoral Drive, Catchgate has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £764 in fines and costs to pay.

Karl Andrew Glease, from Ely Terrace, Oxhill has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £1455 in fines and costs to pay.

Margaret Ayemoba, a landlord from Victoria Street, Kent has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in a property in Queen Street, Grange Villa. They now have a total of £1147 in fines and costs to pay.

Jill Davison, from Derwent Street, Stanley has been prosecuted for failing to comply with a Community Protection Notice in relation to waste in their garden. They now have a total of £726 in fines and costs to pay.
