A car burst into flames on a North East street in the early hours of this morning as flames and smoke could be seen by residents.
The incident happened at around 1am this morning on Bamburgh Crescent in Shiney Row, Houghton-le-Spring.
Pictures and video from the incident show orange flames and smoke billowing out from behind some trees in the area.
Initial reports suggested it was a house fire, however, it was later confirmed to be a car fire.

Police and the fire service were rushed to the scene of the incident and could be seen dealing with the flames.
A spokesperson for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service this morning confirmed that the incident was a car fire.
They added that the fire was quickly brought under control and dealt with.
