A Darlington pub was packed out for an all-vinyl set headlined by an international DJ.
The sounds of funk, soul, disco - and lots more in between - delighted those who attended the DL21 event, upstairs at The Hole in the Wall on Friday evening.
Sunderland-born 'Smoove' spent nearly three hours on the decks, ably supported by Darlington-based DJs Dave Oliver and 'Tosh'.
The free entry 'pay-what-you-want' event was so well attended that organisers say they will need a bigger space for the next one.
DL21 is the brainchild of Darlington's James Watson - aka Mr Watson - who said: “It’s always daunting putting on an event. Will people turn up and will everyone who does turn up enjoy themselves?
"Dave and Tosh got on the decks, the music started playing and the room filled up. They set a high benchmark and then Smoove kept the party bouncing.
"For nearly three hours Smoove showcased so many multitracks and mashups as well as some classic tunes to keep everyone dancing.
"There was so many people there that they couldn’t all get into the room - fantastic night was had by so many and everyone left on a musical high. Here’s to the next DL21 event.”

Hole in the Wall manager Les Langey pledged to stage another event.
He said: "It was a great night and lovely to see and hear from so many people who came to support the event. The feedback was excellent.
"From an initial idea of an intimate gig, it quickly became apparent that we needed a bigger room, so the next one - and there definitely will be a next one - will probably incorporate both floors."
