County Durham business owners are banding together to create a nude charity calendar.

The idea was started by Robert Defty on the Crook Facebook page with his increasingly risque posts.

One photo of him posing nude with various tool parts covering his "vital organs" sparked a wave of comments calling for a calendar.

The Northern Echo: Robert Defty

Other businesses in the Crook area were quick to get involved and so the Risky Businesses Charity Calendar was born.

Karl Utley has been spending his time putting together the calendar, which might be available in just a week or so.

He said: "This all started with Robert's increasingly funny and risque Facebook posts on the R Defty - Crook Facebook page.

"Then he happened to message me and said he didn’t know whether he dare put his latest one up, I think he just needed a "slight - very slight" nudge in that direction and 5 minute later the post was there for all to admire haha.

"Later that Friday night I mocked a calendar page up with Robert's screw promotional image.

"We then talked about the feasibility of a Defty’s calendar to be ready for 2024, the idea was posted on Facebook and to my surprise (probably due to Roberts bad grammar) people wanted to get involved and put their businesses in the calendar too.

"The idea of donating 100% of the sales and donations to local good causes and charities was always at the back of my mind and the businesses have all picked their own charity or good cause to donate to.

"The money raised will be divided between those nominated."

Lucy Forbes is putting together a Facebook page for the calendar which will mean everyone interested in getting their hands on a copy can get regular updates.
