Questions over the future of a Darlington retailer have been raised after the building that it currently occupies has been made available for rent.
Wickes, who operate out of a unit on the Haughton Retail Park, has appeared on the online estate agent site Rightmove - with it seemingly appearing that the building is up for rent.
On the listing, which is through Adderstone Asset Management in Newcastle, the description highlights that it is the 'former Wickes' building.
It then goes on to say that the "strong Retail Park close to town centre and £500m of Public and Private Sector investment attracted to Darlington over the last five years," makes it an ideal location for a company.
The Wickes store, which has 146 car parking spaces, a rear service yard, and a scope to expand the unit for a garden centre, according to the listing, covers a huge 26,000 square feet of space.
Within the online listing, it's not revealed how much the rent on the Wickes building is, but does confirm that the price will be confirmed on enquiry.
On the Wickes website, the Darlington page is still active, but the town is now listed as a destination on the map version of the stores that it currently operates.
Meanwhile, Wickes has submitted plans to move into St Andrews Park, Dragon Lane, in Durham.
The plans, which were submitted to Durham County Council, show the signage that will be used for the front and side of the shop, which hadn't been revealed as Wickes up until this point.
In the detailed drawings in the planning portal, the Wickes branding can be seen prominently - confirming the brand will be moving into the Dragonville site.
This application follows on from the outline permission granted to build a retail unit with car parking and landscaping back in February 2019.

It's expected that Wickes will move into the unit next to McDonald's, which is currently undergoing building work.
The company themselves haven't yet confirmed a date for the opening of the new store, but The Northern Echo has approached them for comment.
The Northern Echo has also approached Wickes about a comment surrounding the Darlington store but hasn't had a reply from the company as of yet.
