Officers investigating reports a woman was bitten by a dog have released an image of a man they would like to speak to.
Shortly after 6pm on Saturday, September 23, police received a report that a woman had been walking on Hawthorn Drive in the Dunston area of Gateshead when she was approached by a man who was walking a dog.
The dog then jumped at the woman, biting her on the upper part of her right leg, leaving her with teeth marks and bruising.
The man and the dog left the scene.
The woman went to hospital for treatment of her injuries and was later discharged.

Officers investigating the incident have today (Friday) released an image of a man they would like to speak to.
He and the dog in the image were in the area at the time and officers believe the man may be able to assist with their enquiries.
A spokesperson for the force said: "The man, or anyone who knows who the man is, should use the ‘Tell Us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or call 101, quoting crime reference number 119677W/23.
