Today we name five people who have been convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol in County Durham.

They all appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court during the last week, where they pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle with an alcohol level above the legal limit.

Gary Robinson,  of Tudhoe Lane, Spennymoor, drove his Peugeot on Durham Road, Spennymoor after consuming enough alcohol to have 306 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, on April 15. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months.

Because of a "very high reading and second offence" he was banned from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay costs of £85.

Gemma Foster, 34, of Parkside Crescent, Seaham, was driving a Volkswagen Gold Princess Road, Seaham, when she was found to have 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on September 30

She pleaded guilty and was  fined £120 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £85 and banned from driving for 17 months.

Marius Amarie, 48, of Bodosani, Romania, was driving a Krone HGV in Heighington Lane, Newton Aycliffe when he was found to have 131 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on October 27.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail, suspended for 12 months and was banned from driving for 36 months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a surcharge of £154.

Anthony Talbot, 32, of South View, Coundon, Bishop Auckland, drove a Vauxhall Astra on Dunelm Road, Thornley, with 98 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, on September 29.

He pleaded guilty and was banned for driving for three years and made the subject of a community order with alcohol treatment for 12 months. He was ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £114.

Lee Johnson, 44, of Burnhall Drive, Seaham,  drove an Alfa Romeo on Station Road, Seaham, with 66 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on October 6.

He pleaded guilt and was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £450 and ordered to pay costs of £85 and a surcharge of £180.
