Flood alerts remain in place across the region after heavy rainfall over the weekend.

Alerts are in place in from Darlington, through County Durham, Tyne and Wear, and Northumberland.

It comes after the County Durham village of Lanchester woke to flash flooding on Sunday (October 29) morning with damage to homes, businesses and roads closed.

A bout of rainfall meant much of the area was impassible due to lying water.
