Goths take over Whitby for second annual Goth Weekend 2023

The quaint seaside town of Whitby was a goth's paradise this weekend as fans of the genre took over for Whitby Goth Festival.

The annual festival took place from Friday to Sunday (October 27-29), and involved a 'bizarre bazaar' with over 100 indoor traders selling gothic-themed goods.

Pictures from Saturday (October 28) show some attendees took inspiration from Beetlejuice and Addams Family sister Wednesday, whilst others went for a more fantasy-themed look with claws, feathers and hats.

This is the year’s second instalment of the bi-annual festival.

The last weekender took place in April when attendees were seen walking the town’s cobbled lanes and seafront promenade, which featured in Bram Stoker's gothic masterpiece Dracula.

Stoker visited the harbour town in 1890 and viewed the ruined monasteries and graveyards as the perfect setting to feature his blood-sucking vampire.
