A person has been taken to hospital following a crash on a busy County Durham A road that led to a large portion of the road itself being closed for several hours.
Emergency services convened on the A68 between Darlington and Bishop Auckland today (October 26) at 12:30pm following a car colliding with a road sign.
Police confirmed after the incident that it involved a Jaguar XF, closing the road whilst they dealt with the scene.
One person was taken to hospital by the ambulance service.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 12:32pm this afternoon (Thursday 26 October) to reports of a road traffic incident on the A68, West Auckland Road in Darlington.
"We dispatched an ambulance crew who transported one patient to Darlington Memorial Hospital for further treatment."

A spokesperson said: "Police were called at 12:30pm this afternoon to reports of a one-vehicle collision on the A68 at Houghton Bank.
"It involved a jaguar XF which collided with a road sign.
"The driver is being treated at the scene and the road remains closed."
Following the crash, the road has since re-opened and traffic is running smoothly.
