A dispersal order has been imposed on a North East street following increased reports of antisocial behaviour.

The order will be put in place today (October 23) from 6pm in the Whale Hill area of Middlesbrough following reports of antisocial behaviour involving "youths."

It will run for 48 hours after residents reported that congregating youths were causing anti-social behaviour and committing offences.

The Northern Echo:

It gives police the power to order groups to leave the area immediately for a period of up to 48 hours, and if they return to the area they can be arrested for breaching the order. This can also be extended beyond this period.

Neighbourhoods inspector Zoe Kelsey said: “This dispersal order has been put in place due to anti-social behaviour caused by youths congregating and causing criminal damage.

“Behaviour like this will not be tolerated and Cleveland Police is taking action against those causing issues in this area.

"Parents are urged to ensure they know where their children are.”
