Shocking footage has emerged of a hot air balloon making an unexpected landing on a County Durham road this morning and eventually fully covering a home.
Residents of Tail-Upon-End Lane in Bowburn, County Durham, were blown away to find a Virgin hot air balloon land in the middle of the road just after 10am this morning (October 23).
The balloon, which according to witnesses did not crash land, came to rest on the road before falling to its side and covering a property and its garden.

Images and footage have since emerged of the incident, showing multiple people crowding around the deflated balloon whilst motorists have been left unable to get through.
AA Traffic maps shows that drivers are still experiencing small delays on the road as the incident continues.
One eyewitness reported: "The balloon clipped a tree, and landed on the road. It wasn't a crash, but just landed in the wrong place.
"There was a person working for Virgin who was waiting in the road to help catch it as it landed. Around 8 to 10 people were at the scene."
Virgin Experience Days have been contacted for more information on the incident.
