A brand-new sandwich shop has opened in Darlington – promising to serve up a “small menu of perfection” to customers every lunchtime.
Formerly the owners of Fit Fresh, a “healthy takeaway” company, the “passionate about cooking” husband and wife duo Kieran and Katie Meredith have opened a new venture – Stacked Loaded Sandwiches.
After “thinking about changing the business up for a while”, the duo have pivoted the establishment to a takeaway sandwich joint, serving up the best local and handmade sarnies from their shop on Darlington’s Duke Street.

Stacked Loaded Sandwiches ensure that all of the hand-selected meats are “the best of the best”, using locally sourced prime cuts.
“Everything is handmade – from the sauces, the marinades, the meats. All of the meats are cured for 72 hours – in our own kitchen, we’ve found that brings out the flavour best," Kieran said.
The menu – of five sandwiches – is set to change every two weeks, with different meats, different sauces, and different breads on offer every fortnight.
As a keen home chef, Kieran says that the sandwiches being sold in the new shop are “exactly the kind of thing we make at home.
“We’ve got a small menu – but it is all about quality for us here.”

The bread – baked each morning by Number Eight Bakehouse, located in central Darlington’s Post House Wynd – comes in a range of custom flavours, which change depending on the current items on the two-week menu.
The tried-and-tested homemade sarnies are already selling like hotcakes, and despite only opening their doors at 11am on Thursday (October 19), less than an hour later, a queue is forming during the lunchtime rush.
Stacked Loaded Sandwiches, on 36 Duke Street, is open from 11 am to 3 pm and 5 pm to 8om daily.
