A North East company dedicated to looking after the safety and wellbeing of workers throughout the region is to sponsor a key category at the next County Durham Together Awards.
Occupational Health and Training Services, based at Aycliffe Business Park in Newton Aycliffe, is sponsoring the Health and Wellbeing category at the awards, and Director Linda Jones said it was the perfect way to say thank you to the region where she works.
“I got into this work because I like looking after people,” she said.
“I think we all realise here that reaching out is a natural part of life. There is more to it than just doing things because you have to – this is about helping people because we want to.
“And we have seen and worked with so many people in the North East who are doing a lot of great things and I think it's good to recognise those people.”
OHTS offer a full range of in-house, ad-hoc & clinic-based services for small, medium & large business. Its small team can help manage the effects of health on work alongside the effects of work on health, allowing businesses to look after their workers and stay competitive.
The company specialises in absence management and workplace assessments and offers health surveillance programmes on site or at its well-equipped clinic.
Linda said: “I saw the awards and thought that looks like a really interesting way to get people to think about health and wellbeing, because we deal with so many different aspects in our business.
“So when people call us about a particular condition, one of the first questions will be ‘what does that employee do?’ because they might sit at a desk or drive heavy plant machinery and that all impacts how a worker reacts to conditions, so we are constantly assessing people and giving advice.
“And on top of it all, these people are trying to run a business and keep people in employment as well as managing safety and trying to be an expert in everything. We can help with that.
“We’re really looking forward to the awards night – it will be lovely to be there with my colleagues and have a way of saying ‘well done’ to so many people.”
The County Durham Together Awards will be held at Hardwick Hall Hotel near Sedgefield on Wednesday, December 6 2023 and will recognise individuals and teams who have gone the extra mile to help our communities and support their neighbours and colleagues during the most challenging circumstances.
