There was a large emergency service presence on a County Durham street today as a cordon was put in place for most of the day.
Police cordoned off a Darlington street for much of today (October 18) as they engaged in a seven-hour stand-off with a man on the roof of a house.
A large emergency service presence made up of seven police cars, a fire engine and two ambulances converged on Flamingo Close in Darlington in response to a man on a roof.
The man had reportedly been on the roof since around 9am this morning.

Other members of the public were waiting outside the cordon, watching multiple officers at the foot of the house who were urging the man to come down.
Shortly after 4pm, the man was seen re-entering the house through the window and was arrested by police who quickly entered the home. The cordon was lifted soon after.
Durham Constabulary has been contacted for more information.
