PLANS have been submitted to North Yorkshire Council to change the use of an agricultural field to equestrian, with the installation of a new riding arena.
A planning statement has been prepared by Craggs Architects on behalf of applicant Blake Walden for full planning application submitted to North Yorkshire Council.
The proposed development, in Sowerby, is for the change of use to equestrian plus the installation of a new 35m x 25m riding arena for domestic use only. The arena would be for private use only and not for any commercial equestrian activities.

The proposed location for the arena is on an existing paddock next to the access and opposite the main existing barn, which are all within the applicant’s ownership.
The appearance and construction of the arena is for an all-weather riding area which is enclosed with traditional timber post and rail fencing.
The new fencing would be in keeping with the existing fencing already in-situ.

The proposed arena surface will be a synthetic material made up of silica sand and synthetic stabilising fibre.
The land is naturally flat therefore only minor groundworks required to construct the arena.
