An investigation is underway after emergency services recovered a body from Roker Marina.
The alarm was raised near to Monkwearmouth, Sunderland, at around 10am this morning. (Tuesday, October 17)
Officers from Northumbria Police and North East Ambulance Service attended the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “At around 10am today (Tuesday) police received a report that sadly a body had been found in the River Wear near to Monkwearmouth.
“Emergency services are currently in attendance at the scene, and the body has been recovered.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances around the incident and to identify the person found.”

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 12.28pm this afternoon (Tuesday 17 October) to reports of an incident at Roker Marina in Sunderland.
“We dispatched one ambulance crew to the scene.”
