A man found in an alleyway after a serious assault is fighting for his life in hospital as three people have been arrested.
The man, in his 40s, was found in the alleyway behind Bell Street in Crook, County Durham shortly before 6pm on Friday (October 13) evening.
He was taken to hospital by paramedics and remains in a critical condition.

Durham Police confirmed an investigation is now underway and three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
A 40-year-old man who was arrested remains in police custody while two women, both in their 30s, have been released pending further enquiries.

Detective Superintendent Yvonne Dutson said: “I would like to thank the public for their patience while we are at the scene.
“I would like to reassure them that we believe this is an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with what happened.”
A force spokesperson added: “Anyone with any information is asked to call Durham Constabulary on 101, quoting incident reference 303 of October 13.”
