A North Yorkshire company has launched a month-long campaign with events and fundraisers with hopes of raising £10,000 for a leading breast health charity.

HECK!, based in Bedale near the A1 has announced it will be hosting a Boob Brunch at its Yorkshire HQ this week (October 14) in a string of efforts to raise money during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The three-hour event will include a 45-minute yoga session, delicious food & drink, goodie bags and advice from CoppaFeel!’s Boobettes – a group of volunteers who have been diagnosed with breast cancer under the age of 35.

The campaign has been spearheaded by HECK! co-founder Jamie Keeble who was diagnosed with testicular cancer in his 30s and now hopes employers can support and educate employees on why its important to have regular testing.

“My diagnosis was a complete shock,” Jamie said.

“I only picked it up as I’m quite self-aware but, as a younger person, I never expected to be told I had cancer. My family and work colleagues were amazing, but we were all very conscious that we had limited knowledge in terms of supporting other people who might be going through similar experiences.

“With 80% of our team being female, and many aged under 30, we’ve teamed up with CoppaFeel! to launch a workplace and wider awareness campaign to encourage everyone to check regularly and know they're normal.

“It’s important to mention that 400 men a year are diagnosed with cancer, as well as 2,400 women under the age of 39, so awareness is key, but if the disease is diagnosed early, it is treatable.”

Alongside the brunch, HECK! will also be displaying a giant pink bra beside on their HQ logo that is located beside the A1, with hopes the sign will catch eyes.

The company has also launched fundraising packs of Chicken Italia Burgers which will be on sale throughout October in Tesco, Amazon, Ocado, Waitrose and Booths.

Lucy Jackson, CoppaFeel’s Head of Partnerships said: “We’re really grateful for workplaces like HECK! who are encouraging employees to get checking their boobs, pecs or chest and are delighted that they’ve chosen to support CoppaFeel! through their limited-edition burger packs.

“The money raised from sales of the burgers will enable us to reach even more young people with our life-saving message. We know how important it is to get an early diagnosis – it can save your life.”
