A man has died after falling from the Tyne Bridge onto the pavement below.
Police were called to the Newcastle side of the bridge at 8.45am this morning (Monday, October 9) to reports of concern for a man’s welfare.
Emergency crews attended the scene and found the man had fallen from the bridge to the pavement below.

He was confirmed dead at the scene. His family have since been informed.
Northumbria Police said they do not believe anyone else was involved.
A force spokesperson said: “At 8.45am today (Monday) officers received a report of concern for the welfare of a man in the Tyne Bridge area of Newcastle.
“Emergency services attended the scene and found the man had fallen from the bridge to the pavement below. He was sadly confirmed as deceased.
“The man’s next of kin have been notified and our thoughts are with them.

“Officers do not believe there to have been any third-party involvement and a report will be made for the coroner.”
Paramedic crews also rushed to the Newcastle Quayside.
A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident on the Quayside in Newcastle shortly before 8.45am this morning (9 October).
"We dispatched a rapid response paramedic, three crews from our Hazardous Area Response Team, an ambulance crew and a clinical team leader."
