This led to images being released of cars and other vehicles stuck in the water near Hawes, with other pictures showing members of the public wading out of their cars and through the water on walks.
In this particular incident, the North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service had sent out firefighters to the scene - before advising the motorist to arrange their own collection of the vehicle.
On the fire service logs, the incident read: "Crew from Hawes were mobilised to assist a motorist who had become stranded after driving into flood water.
"Crew used swift water rescue gear to wade into the water and walk the occupant from their vehicle back to safety. The occupant was advised to arrange his own vehicle recovery."
