A person has been taken to hospital following an 'industrial accident' at a North East factory earlier today.

North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) have confirmed they received a report of an incident at a factory on New Road in Billingham at 8:34am on Wednesday (October 4).

They confirmed the incident was also attended by Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) and one man was taken to James Cook Hospital.

A NEAS spokesperson said: "We dispatched one ambulance crew, a clinical team leader, four crews from our Hazardous Area Response Team, and requested support from our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).

"One patient was taken by road to The James Cook University Hospital for further treatment."

The name of the factory has yet to be confirmed.
