The first images from the scene of an assault outside a North East Wetherspoons pub this afternoon (Tuesday, October 3) that has left one man in hospital have emerged.
A large police presence, including multiple officers and vehicles, was pictured outside The Wouldhave pub on Mile End Road, in South Shields this afternoon, following the incident.
Police cordoned off much of the area surrounding the bar, and were seen directly outside the entrance to the pub.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 1:30pm this afternoon following reports of the incident, where one man was later taken to hospital.
Police said the victim suffered "non-life-threatening injuries".
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 1.35pm today (Tuesday) we received a report of a disturbance at The Wouldhave pub on Mile End Road, South Shields.
“It was reported that a man was assaulted outside the premises and had suffered a non-life threatening injury. The offenders made off from the scene immediately after the incident.
“Emergency services attended and the victim has been taken to hospital for treatment.
“A full investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing to trace those involved.”
The North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed they attended the scene.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We received a call at 1.39pm this afternoon (Tuesday 03 October) to reports of an incident on Mile End Road in South Shields.
"We dispatched one ambulance crew who treated a patient on-scene before transporting them to hospital for further treatment."
