Police were called to a school after reports of a pupil carrying a knife.
Officers from Northumbria Police attended Burnside College, in Wallsend, on Wednesday, September 27 after receiving reports and calls about a pupil who was in possession of a knife.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “We received a report that last Wednesday, September 27, a pupil at a North Tyneside school had been found in possession of a bladed article.

“Officers carried out a full investigation into the report and the pupil and their family were spoken to by officers and given appropriate advice.”
Burnside College has also issued a separate statement about the incident, which noted that staff acted quickly to diffuse the situation.

A spokesman for the school said: “The safety of our school is incredibly important to everyone associated with Burnside College.
"We received reports on Tuesday of a bladed article being on the school site and acted quickly to remove the item and ensure that there was no risk to students, staff, or our wider community.
"We’ve supported the police with their investigation.”
