A spectacular light and sound show is returning to Durham Cathedral this month - and organisers are promising it will be even grander this time.
After a complete sellout of the 2022 show ‘Life,’ artist group Luxmuralis will be back in Durham with their new event, titled ‘Science’.
Luxmuralis aims to bring the journey of ‘Science’ to life with its mixed media use of light and sound, presenting the history of science, its greatest minds and its even greater impact on humanity.
The 2023 show will be taking place from Wednesday, October 11 to the following Sunday (October 15) from 6.45pm each day. Organisers are promising visitors will be immersed in beautiful sounds and visuals during a tour of Durham cathedral.
Andrew Usher, chief officer, visitor and enterprise at Durham Cathedral, said: “With a different show and a new route through the cathedral, we can’t wait to see what Science brings this autumn.”
The route includes the cloister and chapter house of Durham's magnificent Cathedral.
Organisers say the show in the cloisters will explore the themes of chemistry and biology before visitors through the courtyard into the Chapter House, where light and sound will cascade along the domed ceiling in a stunning display of scientific advancement.
