Iconic 90s boyband Take That has announced a new UK stadium tour, including a date at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium

The ‘Shine’ band will play the home of Middlesbrough FC and make it the ‘Greatest Day’ on May 24, 2024, on their UK-wide tour, with tickets set to go on sale before the end of the month. 

It comes after lead singer Gary Barlow appeared to hint at a new tour on Wednesday (September 20), posting pictures of the pop band’s logo outside venues nationwide.

Take That last played the Riverside to a 30,000-strong crowd in 2019.

The official announcement was made by Zoe Ball on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show and on the band’s social media pages this morning (Friday, September 22).

Announcing the tour on the radio, Gary Barlow said: "We're going all over the UK - start in April, all the way through to the middle of June. 

"And our friend Olly Murs will be joining us for the whole tour. We're very excited!

The three-piece, now made up of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald and Mark Owen, will follow in the footsteps of the Arctic Monkeys who entertained crowds this June, and The Killers in 2022.

Tickets for their Middlesbrough gig will go on sale on next Friday,  September 29. 

Die-hard fans can also get early access to ticket pre-sales on Wednesday 27, by pre-ordering the brand new album This lIfe from the official store before Tuesday, September 26.

Helena Bowman, Head of Business Operations at Middlesbrough FC, said: “We're always striving to bring huge names to the Riverside and it's an absolute joy to welcome back Take That.

“It was a true pleasure to host the group in 2019 - and we've seen big acts follow them in the years since.

Earlier this year it was reported the band was working on a new album, following a performance at King Charles III’s coronation concert.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “It’s fantastic to be welcoming back Take That to our area and the announcement is further proof of how we are now attracting the biggest and best artists to our area time and time again."
