Today we name five people who failed to identify the drivers who were speeding in their cars in County Durham.
The cases were heard in Peterlee Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, September 19.
The registered owners of the vehicles were charged with speeding offences across the county.
The speeding offences against them were withdrawn, but they were charged with failing to provide the identity of the driver at the time of the alleged offences.
Michael Tansey, 40, of Portland Road, Sunderland, was charged with offence of exceeding the speed limit of 30mph on Wellfield Road, Wingate, in a Citroen on January 12.
The offence was withdrawn but he was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of the vehicle when required, The latter case was found proved under the Single Justice Procedure.
He was fined £660 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £264 and costs of £90 – a total of £1,014. He was disqualified from driving for six months “due to repeat offending”.
Frederick Suada, 56, of Bannockburn, Newcastle, was charged with exceeding the 70mph motorway limit on the A1(M) between Bowburn and Bradbury, in a Nissan, on February 26.
A conviction was set aside and the offence withdrawn, but he was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver when required.
The case was found proved in his absence. He was fined £660 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £264 and costs of £90 – a total of £1,014.
He was disqualified from driving for six months “due to repeat offending”.
Ronald Murphy, 64, of Cwm Dyserth, Cym, Rhyl, was charged with exceeding the 70mph speed limit in a BMW on the A1(M) between Aycliffe and Bradbury on February 18.
The offence was withdrawn and he was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of the vehicle when required The case was proved in his absence. He was fined £660 and ordered to pay costs of £90 and a surcharge of £264 – total of £1,014. His licence was endorsed with six points.
John Bainbridge, 40, of Quilstyle Road, Wheatley Hill, was charged with exceeding the 30mph speed limit in a Volkswagen on the B1238 Hall Walks in Easington Village on March 7. The offence was withdrawn.
He was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver when required. The case was proved in his absence. He was fined £660 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £264 and costs of £90 – a total of £1,014.
His licence was endorsed with six points.

Jamie Hodgson, 33, of Eldon Grove, Hartlepool, was charged with exceeding the 30mph speed limit in a Ford on Welfield Road, Wingate on March 9. The offence was withdrawn.
He was charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver of the car, when required. The case was found proved.
