A County Durham road will be closed until mid-morning today (Friday, September 22) pending the recovery of a vehicle involved in a fire.
Cocken Road, near Chester-le-Street, is closed both ways from Cocken Lane, in Great Lumley, to Holmhill Lane to Newton Hall Junction.
Police are expecting that the road will remain closed until mid-morning, to allow for a van to be recovered after it caught fire late last night.

Durham Constabulary said: "Cocken Road is currently closed between Cocken Lane, Great Lumley and Holmhill Lane, Newton Hall.
"This will be closed until mid-morning pending the recovery of a vehicle."
AA Roadwatch reports: "Road closed due to earlier van fire on Cocken Road both ways from Newton Hall junction. The road has been shut since the early hours."
