Another bank branch has announced it will be closing a North East location in the summer of next year - here's everything you need to know.

Lloyds Bank Seaham branch has announced it will be closing for good in June 2024 as the region deals with a spate of bank closures due to the online banking shift.

Customer data showed the branch transaction rate from personal customers fell 52% from 2018, with only 258 customers using the branch regularly.

The Northern Echo: Lloyds bank.

In a closure review, Lloyds said: "The world is becoming more digital than ever before and more of our customers are doing their everyday banking online.

"With more customers banking digitally, we've seen a fall in branch visits. Because of this, we've decided to close this branch.

"We’re still here to support you and there’s a number of ways you can do your everyday banking with us - online, on your mobile, over the phone or at a Post Office. 

"You can use any of our branches and the nearest alternative is the Houghton le Spring branch."

Seaham's branch is one of five Lloyd's locations that have closed and will close in the North East in the next nine months.

Benton's branch in North Tyneside closed on July 17 and Newburn's Lloyd's in Newcastle was shut on September 14. 

In the next year, the Thirsk branch in North Yorkshire and Gateshead's Lloyds will close on October 31 and January 9 respectively.
