Three people have been arrested in Billingham after officers called to a domestic incident late last night and discovered "suspicious items" at the property.
Police were called to Collingwood Road, in Billingham, to deal with a domestic incident at a residential address around 11 pm last night (Saturday, September 17).
Following a search of the property, officers found a number of suspicious items.

Specialist officers and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) experts, were called in to deal with the items, and currently remain at the scene whilst investigations continue.
A resident has told the Echo they were awoken by a police officer at 1.55 am and told the street was being closed off. According to a neighbour, the resident of the property at the centre of the cordon moved in around a year ago.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident, and they currently remain in police custody.
A police cordon remains in place and officers will be in the area throughout the course of the investigation.
A spokesperson from Cleveland Police said: "Anyone with information should contact us on 101, quoting reference number 186330."
