A fundraising page that was set up to support a 15-year-old girl who lost three members of her family in a horror crash has reached over £30,000. 

On Sunday (September 3), three members of a Ukrainian family who were travelling in a Vauxhall Meriva died after their car was involved in a crash with another car and a bus on the A61 between South Stainley and Ripley, near Ripon. 

Daria Bartienieva, 35, her son, Ihor Bartieniev, six, and Daria’s stepdaughter, Anastasiia Bartienieva, 15, all died in the collision, which happened at 2.20pm.

After the tragic events earlier this month, a fundraising page for the surviving daughter of the family, who also lost her father in February of this year, has been set up, with the community raising over £30,000. 

Donna Chilcott, who set up the fundraiser, is friends with the woman who is now looking after the 15-year-old orphaned by the crash.

Alongside setting up the fundraising page, a fundraising event was staged at The Black Swan in Ripon on Saturday (September 9) to add more money to the GoFundMe page. 

At the time of writing, the fundraiser has reached £31,260.

She now hopes that the money will go towards building a future for the girl, who will turn 16 in a few week's time, including supporting her with a bus pass, school uniform, and items that she needs for her education.

The remaining funds will then be transferred to a trust fund to support the teenager, whether she goes to university or starts working. 

She said: "The community has been amazing with the fundraiser - it's gone viral. The power of social media has allowed us to reach right across the UK and raise lots of money for the girl.

"We want to help her with her future steps and provide the money that parents usually would in these scenarios.

"The fundraising event on Saturday was massively supported and I thank everyone who attended."

A separate fundraiser for the bus driver involved in the horrific crash, who sustained serious injuries, has also been set up. 

So far, it has raised close to £2000 after two days.

Since the tragic events on the A61, an outpouring of emotion has been seen in a floral tribute left at the scene of the collision, while the school of Ihor, 6, who was killed in the crash have paid a heartfelt tribute to the child. 

Holy Trinity School in Ripon, said the whole community is "heartbroken" to learn of his tragic death as it starts a new term.

In its statement to The Northern Echo, the school said that Ihor, who joined them in year one after moving over with his mum and sister, has soon become a "popular" member of the school community with "boundless energy and enthusiasm. 

Tracey Calland-Booke, his year 1 class teacher, said: "Ihor will be remembered by his classmates as a funny, chatty little boy who was loved by us all.

"We were all in awe of this little spark of joy who really brought something special to our class.

"Pupils were drawn to his chatty, charismatic character."

Investigations into the fatal collision remain ongoing, according to police, with officers from North Yorkshire Police asking for dashcam footage. 

The police force also confirmed that the driver of the bus was taken to hospital with leg injuries, some of the bus passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital, and the two people in the other vehicle were not injured.
