A primary school in County Durham has been forced to temporarily stay shut after the flooding over the weekend.
St Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Stanley fell victim to the heavy rainfall and flash flooding which covered the North East during the weekend.
The extent of the damage done in the school is not yet certain but an inspection will be carried out today (September 11).
An announcement by the school made it clear that there would be a closure for Monday, September 11 but parents will have to wait until later to find out if the school will reopen on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, in County Durham, said: "Good evening.
"Due to severe flooding in school, unfortunately, school will be closed tomorrow (11th September).
"Further updates will be sent tomorrow. Apologies for any inconvenience."
This comes after flash floods impacted a number of events across the North East including the Great North Run over the weekend.

Storms boiled up out of the humid weather without warning and unleashed huge amounts of water.
St Joseph's is one of many buildings to be affected by the extreme weather conditions.
Heavy rain is expected again this evening from 5pm until midnight.
