One woman has been hospitalised after a collision involving three vehicles on a County Durham Road this afternoon (September 7).
Emergency services were called to the scene near St Bedes RC School on the A691 between Lanchester and Consett this afternoon just after 3pm to reports of a collision.
Following the incident, police closed the road, asking motorists to find an alternative route.

The road has since been re-opened, and traffic is running smoothly.
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called at 15.06 today (7 SEPT) to the scene of a road traffic collision on the A691 near to St Bedes RC school in Lanchester.
"Two vehicles were involved. We dispatched two paramedic crews. One crew took a woman to hospital suffering with chest pain.
"A second crew assessed the patient from the other vehicle and discharged on scene."
County Durham and Darlington Fire & Rescue Service confirmed they also attended the scene.
A spokesperson from County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service said:
"At approximately 3.10pm today (07 September). A fire engine from Durham Fire Station and a fire engine from Consett Fire Station responded to reports of a road traffic collision, involving 3 cars on Consett Road, Lanchester.
"Our crews made the vehicles safe and assisted our colleagues from the North East Ambulance Service before leaving the scene just after 4:10pm."
