A handful of self-catering and guest accommodation premises in County Durham, Northumberland and Tyne and Wear have been crowned winners at the VisitEngland ROSE Awards 2023.
In total, there were 100 venues that received the impressive titles throughout the country.
Derwent View Cottage in Consett, Apartment 5 at Seafront Apartments in Cullercoats and The Coach House at Breamish House in Alnwick are just a few of the names recognised.
The ROSE Awards which are now in their seventh year, recognise the accommodation providers across England who give visitors the best customer experience.
They celebrate the establishments, irrespective of their star rating, style or type of accommodation, where the owners, management and employees provide world-class service to their visitors.
VisitEngland ROSE Award 2023 winners in Northumberland – who are they?
This year, there were seven locations in Northumberland to be named in the VisitEngland ROSE Awards 2023, including:
- Brunton House, Alnwick (self-catering)
- Millers Hill, Breamish Valley, Alnwick (self-catering)
- Old School House, Haltwhistle (guest accommodation)
- The Coach House at Breamish House, Alnwick (self-catering)
- The Walls, Berwick-upon-Tweed (guest accommodation)
- Waterford, Bamburgh (self-catering)
- Woodside Lodge, Hexham (self-catering)
Tyne and Wear holiday apartment wins at VisitEngland ROSE Awards 2023
Apartment 5 at Seafront Apartments in Cullercoats (self-catering) was the only place in Tyne and Wear to feature in the top 100 for 2023.

Derwent View Cottage in Consett (self-catering) and Thomas Wright House in Spennymoor (guest accommodation) also featured in the awards.
On Tripadvisor, Thomas Wright House has a current rating of 5/5 out of 200 reviews.
One person said: "We arrived to stay overnight and were shown to our room which was just gorgeous. Comfortable beds, cosy and clean.
"Esther and her team are friendly, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Lots of lovely finishing touches.
"Breakfast was spot on too. Lots of choice! Great place and would highly recommend to anyone. You will not be disappointed!"
The ROSE Award winners were nominated by VisitEngland’s quality scheme assessors and selected from assessor comments and online feedback from overseas and domestic visitors.
The award recipients include all types of accommodation from B&Bs, guesthouses and self-catering to parks, campsites, glamping sites and hostels.
They cover a range of ratings from three to five stars, as well as accredited properties.
VisitEngland advisory board member Nadine Thomson said: “The ROSE Awards celebrate and champion the accommodation businesses across England who go above and beyond in their customer service to guarantee visitors have amazing experiences.
"There truly is a place to stay to suit all tastes and budgets in England and these awards also highlight the exceptional variety on offer.
“From our wonderful English inns and pubs with rooms, to glamping, camping and farm-stays in beautiful countryside and coastal locations. From traditional B&Bs and self-catering cottages to luxury boutique accommodation, there really is something for everyone.”
