A popular pizza takeaway retailer hopes to open a new store at Darlington Arena.
Domino’s has submitted plans to open at the stadium, which hosts rugby matches and summertime concerts.
Documents sent to Darlington Borough Council’s planning department show the store would open in the south east corner of the stadium, if approved.
Design drawings show the front of the store would include restaurant-style seating to house customers.
No further details of the new store besides an application to install signage have been revealed.
The application was submitted in August and the council’s planning department is due to consider the outcome in due course.
A new housing estate with hundreds of homes is currently being built nearby off Neasham Road, and it is thought the new store will benefit from the custom of new residents in the area.
The stadium is currently the home of local team Darlington Mowden Park RFC, who moved into the site after Darlington Football Club relocated in 2012. While hosting rugby, former executive suites at the ground have been taken up by local businesses to host events.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the arena was used as a large vaccination centre.

Mick Birch, chairman at Darlington Mowden Park, confirmed the pizza retailer's intention to open at the arena. He said: “We're always open to welcoming new businesses and tenants to the Darlington Arena.
“Hopefully this will further expand our offering, while bringing a number of benefits to the local area. This is the latest step as we continue to work hard to make the most of what is a fantastic community facility."
Domino’s was contacted for comment but did not respond.
