An ex-crime scene investigator has opened up about some of the most shocking crimes she encountered during her career in the North East, including an elderly woman beaten to death and a blind man taunted by his burglar.
Angela Davies admits she would often have goosebumps as she encountered some of the darkest corners of humanity solving the North East’s worst crimes.
The former-CSI recalls two particularly sickening crimes which have lingered with her long after leaving the force.

“An elderly lady who had over 100 injuries and had been beaten to death with a clawhammer – that for me was quite shocking,” said Angela, speaking on the latest episode of the PRsonal podcast.
“I also remember a burglary I once went too, and the guy he was blind.
“They must have realised he was blind, so they moved all of his things around. Not only did they steal from him, they moved his things around so he couldn’t get his bearings in his home.
“That’s something that stays with me – it isn’t bad enough that you’ve burgled him, that you then have to torture this poor soul.”
She admitted sometimes a “dark sense of humour” was needed to combat the often-gruesome scenes she would encounter.
“There were some occasions I’d feel an energy, and sometimes you would get goosebumps – whether that was someone’s soul or not, I don’t know,” added Angela, discussing any supernatural encounters she had during her time, especially at the scene of a murder.
“But I’d certainly feel an energy and the hair on the back of my neck stand up.”
Since leaving the force the investigator has turned businesswoman with her award-winning firm CSI Training and Events which is based in Middlesbrough, and creates fun, educational events centred around real-life crime-solving techniques.

The popularity of bingeable true crime shows, on the likes of Netflix, had reignited the public’s appetite for cracking cases, she told the podcast, produced by North East PR firm Harvey and Hugo.
“People really seem to love and enjoy it, and we have created events around it and people find it fascinating.
“And I still love crime scene and forensic investigation – that’s not something that has left me just because I’ve left the police.”
