A teenager who lost both of her hands to meningitis when she was only 15-months-old is releasing her debut single

Seventeen-year-old Tilly Lockey has been working in the studio with a talented team of writers and producers on her song.

‘Porcelain’ was co-written and produced by Eve Horne, Millie Blooms and Dan Fry, and Tilly, from Consett, said it is about being human, and feeling fragile or broken at times.

She said: “It reminds us that no matter what, or who you’re up against, you can always pick yourself back up again and come back stronger.

“I want to say a huge thanks to Eve and Millie who not only co-wrote and produced this song with me, but have worked incredibly hard to help me develop and define my sound, brand, business and even set up my own record label so I have complete control as an independent artist.

“I’m so lucky to have such a great team of support behind me.”

Surviving against all the odds, Tilly has gone on to be one of the North East’s most successful teenagers and also inspires over 350,000 online followers.

From hosting her own radio show on Spark Radio Sunderland, where she was scouted by Capital Radio, to modelling for Nemisis Modelling Agency Manchester, who booked her to model in The White House, Washington DC and walk in this year's London Fashion Week, Tilly proves that ambition, strength and determination will always win.

She performed in front of 20,000 people on BBC Radio One’s Big Weekend Main Stage, opening the festival ahead of Ed Sheeran.

Tilly, who has used bionic arms since 2016, said: “I do a lot of motivational speaking and I wanted to get my messages out there through my music, as it’s what I love doing the most.”
