A woman who verbally abused her aunt just weeks after she was given a suspended sentence and restraining order for attacking her in a bar has been locked up.
Abbey Sherry shouted and screamed at her aunt after she drove away in her car after they inadvertently bumped into each other on Raby Street, Hartlepool, on August 15 last year.
In June last year, the 33-year-old was given a 15 months’ prison sentence suspended for two years, 35 days’ probation, and 90 days of alcohol abstinence monitoring, following the attack in August 2021.
Teesside Crown Court heard how the initial confrontation arose due to a family conflict and ended when the defendant attacked her aunt in the bar.

Recorder Ayesha Smart activated eight months of the suspended sentence for the breach of the order and was given an additional two-month sentence for breaching her restraining order for abusing her aunt.
“The victim was anxious and fearful due to your behaviour,” she said. “It was a deliberate breach but I appreciate you met each other by chance.”

Nigel Soppitt, prosecuting, said the mother-of-four was with three of her own children when she became abusive towards her aunt.
Sherry, of Pine Grove, Hartlepool, was convicted of the breach of the restraining order in her absence but admitted breaching the conditions of her suspended sentence.
Stephen Constantine, mitigating, said her time on remand had had a significant impact on her and she was determined to turn her life around.
