Two drivers suffered minor injuries when their cars crashed, causing major traffic disruption on the busy A1(M) in North Yorkshire at lunchtime today.
The southbound carriageway was closed for a number of hours while emergency services dealt with the incident near Boroughbridge.
The crash happened on the A1(M) Southbound carriageway between Junction 49 Ripon Road (Thirsk / Dishforth) and Junction 48 A6055 (Boroughbridge).

Traffic tailbacks for several miles on the southbound carriageway, while traffic was also slow on the northbound side due to onlookers.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Just before midday today (Friday 18 August) we received a call regarding a two-vehicle RTC on the southbound A1(M) just north of junction 48 at Boroughbridge.
"The drivers of both vehicles sustained minor injuries, but did not require the ambulance service to attend."

"All southbound lanes were closed whilst fire and police worked at the scene.
"The fire service made the vehicles safe, before they were recovered."
The road is now fully open.
