Global retailer Flying Tiger Copenhagen has announced it will open a new store in the Metrocentre before Christmas.
The Danish retailer, known for stocking everything from home accessories to party decorations and stationery to sunglasses will open shop this autumn.
It currently has almost 1,000 stores in 25 countries.

The new 3,600 sq ft store will be situated on the ground floor of the Green Mall opposite Boots and next to Ann Summers.
Mike Burke, Managing Director of Flying Tiger Copenhagen, said: “Opening a store back in the North East was always a priority for us and the Metrocentre is the perfect location.
“Our customers have asked us to return to the North East since we moved out of the city centre, we listened and have found the right location.”x
It becomes the latest brand to open at the Gateshead shopping centre this year, including Hobbs, Rowen Homes, Moda in Pelle, Skopes and most recently Apricot.
Ben Cox from the Metrocentre, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the arrival of Flying Tiger Copenhagen to the Metrocentre later this year.

“The store will join us at a very exciting time, as we’ll also be opening the doors to several new flagships stores for the likes of Zara, Flannels and Sports Direct.
“With its unique and varied product offering, and the only Flying Tiger in the region, we’re confident it will be popular with our shoppers.”
Flying Tiger Copenhagen also has plans to open at a number of other shopping centres in the UK including in Manchester, London and Liverpool.
