A building in Middlesbrough that has been plagued by antisocial behaviour is set to be demolished after standing unoccupied for the past 18 months.

Field House, a former farm building, located at Guisborough Road, Nunthorpe, has increasingly attracted antisocial behaviour, including several fires in recent months.

Now having obtained the relevant licenses from Middlesbrough Council and Natural England, the current owner, Persimmon, has confirmed plans to tear down the building.

Demolition will be carried out by a specialist demolition firm, with the works set to start on Monday (August 14). It is expected the works will last no longer than a week.

A Persimmon Teesside spokesperson said: “Demolition work at Guisborough Road is being undertaken to prevent the antisocial behaviour the unoccupied building on site has attracted in recent months. The demolition of this building does not signify the start of any construction on site.

“All of the necessary permits have been obtained, and we are working closely with officers at Middlesbrough Council.

“Third-party demolition experts will carry out the work which will take approximately one week to complete.”

These works are not related to the planning application submitted by the housebuilder.
