PLANS have been submitted to Durham County Council for the erection of 22 bungalows together with formation of the site access, landscaping and associated works, on land to the east of Holdforth Crest South, Church Road, Bishop Auckland.
The site subject to the application is located on the eastern side of South Church Road and comprises a parcel of sloping, undeveloped land that is currently utilised for grazing, which extends to 1.16 hectares.

The proposed scheme is composed of 22 dwellings of two and three-bed types, all single storey bungalows, as set out below:
- 14 single storey, two-bed semi-detached;
- Eight single storey, three-bed semi-detached.
Outline permission for up to 28 residential dwellings with all matters reserved other than access, was approved in 2015.
The layout comprises of two rows of dwellings; one with their principal elevation facing South Church Road with rear parking, in order to provide an active, uncluttered frontage along this route, with the second row facing the central estate road and towards the other dwellings, which will provide good levels of natural surveillance of parking areas.
