Fire crews are in attendance at a laundrette this evening (Tuesday, August 8) after reports a blaze broke out.
The fire service was called to Dean Road in the Westoe area of South Shields at 7.30pm on Tuesday to reports of a fire.
Five fire engines attended the scene along with the Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service (TWFRS) incident command unit.

A TWFRS spokesperson said shortly before 9.30pm: “We are still in attendance although there was a fire, and we did have five appliances and a command vehicle there. It is still ongoing.”
The cause of the incident is not yet known.
The Northern Echo has contacted Northumbria Police for a comment.
