A man has been injured with a weapon and another man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident in Middlesbrough on Friday night.

Armed police were called to Whale Hill shops in the Eston area of Middlesbrough after a 43-year-old had been injured around 4pm.

A 52-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of assault, and has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Officers from Cleveland Police are now appealing to the public for information and urge those to get in touch on 101 and quote incident number: 154151.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: “Police were called to a report of an injured male at Whale Hill shops (Eston) on Friday 4th August at around 4pm.

“It was reported that a 43 year old man had been injured with a weapon at a property on Grosmont Road prior to this and armed officers were also deployed to this address.

“The man received medical treatment at the scene.

“A man aged 52 was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
