Police have confirmed that one person has been taken to hospital following a collision on an a North East A road before 6am this morning.
A woman has been taken to hospital to be checked over after a crash took place early this morning near Newton Bewley close to Hartlepool.
Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A689 at around 5.45am after reports of a collision between a van and a car.
The road was closed for several hours whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and was re-opened at 7.50am.

A full statement from Cleveland Police said: “We were called at around 5.45am this morning (Thursday, August 3) to a two-vehicle collision on the A689 in Hartlepool involving a van and a car.
“The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident before the vehicles were recovered and the road reopened at 7.50am.
“A female driver of the car was taken to hospital to be checked over.”
A statement from the North East Ambulance service reads: “We were called at 5.54 this morning to a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A689 at Wolviston.
“We dispatched a double crewed ambulance and transported one patient to North Tees Hospital.”
The Northern Echo has also contacted Cleveland Fire Brigade for a comment.
